CEREC® One-visit

CEREC® Digital Impression

If you find yourself with a broken tooth that cannot be fixed with a dental filling, the next level of treatment is usually dental crowns or onlays. Also known as "caps," crowns are placed over weak teeth to restore normal form and function. Onlays are partial crowns that also restore weak teeth while preserving as much natural tooth structure as possible. We at Bucks County Smiles have more than 65 combined years of experience with crowns and other comprehensive restorative and cosmetic dentistry options. We are well-equipped to handle any case, from single crown placement to full mouth reconstruction, depending on your needs.

Candidates for Dental Crowns and Onlays

You may be a candidate for dental crowns or onlays if you have a tooth that is significantly chipped, cracked, discolored or weak from excessive wear and tear or decay. Crowns or onlays are also used to replace old, large fillings. If your tooth is completely unable to be saved, we will recommend another option like a dental implant or dentures in Bucks County.

The Placement of Dental Crowns and Onlays

Dental crowns are placed in a two-part process. First, you will visit our office to have impressions taken of your teeth and gums; this information helps the dental laboratory that we work with to create your custom crown. We will remove a small bit of tooth structure to make room for your crown, and place a temporary crown. Within several weeks, the dental laboratory will have crafted your custom crown, and you will return to our office to have it placed. The permanent crown is slipped over the surface of the tooth and cemented into place. Any minor adjustments for the proper fit and bite are made.

CEREC® Restorations

Advanced CEREC technology allows us to fit, craft and place your all-ceramic dental crown, inlay or onlay in one visit, sparing you from impressions, temporaries and having to wait weeks until your permanent restoration is ready. Our patients love the convenience of CEREC technology, as well as the high quality of the restorations. Learn more about CEREC here.

Benefits of Dental Crowns

Dental crowns provide needed support for teeth that are structurally compromised (chipped, cracked or otherwise damaged). Crowns resemble your natural teeth in color, shape and size, and are virtually indistinguishable from the surrounding teeth. You will be able to chew normally on a crown, and smile comfortably. You'll feel more confident in your smile's appearance and function, knowing that you have top-quality dental crowns.
